Hollymead Town Center Block 9

Service: Site Planning, Architectural Design, 3-D Modeling, Engineering
Client: Virginia Land Company

Blocks 9A and 9B of Hollymead Town Center consists of 45,000 S.F. of retail (two buildings) designed to emulate the charm of a historic neighborhood. The massing of the buildings is segmented into narrow unites with a variety of architectural styles representative of various time periods. The articulated facades alternate between vernacular Victorian, Richardsonian, modern, and contemporary architecture. Despite the wide diversity of architectural styles, the scale and patterns relate well to each other and to the street.
A zero-lot-line setback, street frontage, sidewalks, and street trees create a friendly pedestrian environment. Parallel parking is provided along the street and parking lots are relegated to the rear of the buildings. A modern tower provides the identity and central focus of public space for these blocks.
3-D modeling provided the client an effective means of marketing the site to prospective retail tenants.

Lewis & Clark Exploratory

DED was selected to generate the Preliminary and Final Site Development Plans for the future Lewis and Clark Exploratory Center at Darden Towe park in Albemarle County, Virginia.
The Center will celebrate and explore the original ideas and historic roots of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in Charlottesville through interactive technology and hands-on activities. Environmental features of the site will also be explored through context sensitive design. Dominion's sustainable landscaping design showcases native flora integrated with storm water management practices. Low-impact development (LID) techniques such as bio retention cells, will be employed to capture and treat runoff before it enters the Rivanna River.

Client: ECORP Management Association, Inc.

Rivanna Plaza is a commercial infill project on Rt. 29 North adjacent to the existing Schewels Furniture Store and Kegler's Bowling Center. Current plans include approximately 20,000 S.F. of commercial space along with a 12,500 S.F. Learning Center.
3-D modeling was used to present site plans and architecture to the Architecture Review Board for approval.

Waters Place - Culpeper Virginia

Client: Octagon Partners, LLC

Currently under construction, Phase 1 of Waters Place includes the renovation and adaptive reuse of a historic warehouse complex set in the heart of the downtown urban renewal district adjacent to the historic train station which was previously renovated by our architectural principal. The lower levels of the building consist of retail and a parking garage and three floors of residential apartments occupy the floors above.
A second phase will close-off Waters Street, turning it into a pedestrian mall. An entirely new mixed-use building will be added with improvements to the existing parking lots.
3-D modeling shows how the existing warehouse space was redesigned and seamlessly integrated with new construction.
